Lana Popham

Lana Popham has been the MLA for Saanich South since 2009 and is once again back as B.C.’s Minister of Agriculture and Food.

For the past two years, she served as Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sports. However, before that, she was B.C.’s first and longest-serving woman agriculture minister from 2017 to 2022.

Raised on Quadra Island in a DIY community, Lana graduated from UBC with a geography degree and co-founded Barking Dog Vineyard, Vancouver Island’s first certified organic vineyard.
Lana is an advocate for local food initiatives, having championed programs like Buy BC and Feed BC to promote local agriculture in institutions.

As an MLA, she supports her constituents through community engagement and entered politics to enhance quality of life, promote sustainable agriculture, and address climate change
